PEUGEOT looked to the past for inspiration for its 100% autonomous, electric and connected vehicle, the e-LEGEND, which will debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.
Adopting a realistic and yet radically modern template, the e-LEGEND CONCEPT still carries the DNA of the PEUGEOT brand and exudes elegance and rich heritage.
As the automotive industry undergoes the transition in energy and fuel types, PEUGEOT is tackling the technological challenge head-on, whilst adhering to its philosophy that the technology of the future should exist to deliver driving pleasure for its users.’
Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of PEUGEOT, said: “PEUGEOT e-LEGEND CONCEPT is not just a technological manifesto. This is the vision of a brand actively focused on an optimistic and ultra-desirable future. For PEUGEOT, autonomy and electric are synonymous with even stronger sensations. Boredom will never be part of our DNA.”
The PEUGEOT e-LEGEND CONCEPT is powered by a 100% electric power train, with the 100 kWh batteries reaching 800 Nm torque and 340 Kw power, distributed to the four-wheel drive. This level of performance makes it possible to travel 0/100 km/h in less than 4s and reach a maximum speed of 220Km/h (137 mph).
The fully autonomous capabilities of the vehicle are designed to give drivers more time to themselves, with PEUGEOT’s acclaimed i- Cockpit offering a comfortable and intuitively usable environment in which to pursue other activities.
Aude Brille, Head of PEUGEOT Strategy, said: “With PEUGEOT e-LEGEND CONCEPT, for us it’s about intensifying and refining the experience of 100% autonomy, electric and connectivity. The Responsive i- Cockpit is enhanced to offer its guests immersive driving specifically customised for each of the four driving modes available.”
The immersive nature of the vehicle is also enhanced by a partnership with AI technology company, SOUNDHOUND Inc., which offers a voice-activated personal assistant suitable for autonomous driving. Using this, the driver can change the driving style of the car, listen to music or even open and close the electrified doors.
