Used Ferrari sells for $28.5 million!

A rumour that AUTOLOUD caught on the net, tells of the sale of a 1961 Ferrari GTO, for the princely sum of $ 28,500,000!! That’s right $28.5 million (US)!
If you were able to throw that much money at a car I suppose the major reason it was bought, was obviously for investment purposes. Lets face it, you cant drive it! At least the lucky new owner has good taste. Who hasn’t dreamt of buying a V12 Ferrari capable of winning Le Mans!
There are only 39 GTO’s in existence and I can now hear the other thirty eight owners rubbing their hands with glee. Funnily enough though, the one GTO that will probably stay with its owner is the one belonging to Pink Floyd drummer, Nick Mason.
Nick Mason bought the car well over 25 years ago and even during the eighties boom in Supercar prices he turned down, what he considered to be ridiculous money. His theory was that he loved the car and he loved driving it, so why sell? The interesting coincidence with his car, is that when he picked it up, it turned out to be the very same car he had photographed in 1963 whilst on a trip to Goodwood.
I know it’s the ultimate Classic Ferrari and all that but AUTOLOUD thinks that $ 28,500,000 would buy an awful lot of cars, why, that’s probably enough money to buy all the Morris Marinas in the world, only thing is what do you spend the other $28,498,500 million on?
