MG or not MG, for that is the question!

Depending on your age, it is time to either dig out the flat tweed cap and string-back gloves or the baseball cap. You see Nanjing Automobile Company have announced that it is only weeks until they release the all new British sports car (made in China!) the MG TF 500LE!
Actually the first ones are to be built in at the old Austin/ Morris, British Leyland/ Rover factory in Longbridge so at least geographically they truly are British.
According to the Nanjing MG website “The new TF represents a fresh addition to the UK sports car market!” Really! And there was me thinking that the MG TF 500 LE was based on the old MGF that was released in 1995!
That’s right; this all new MG is in fact 13 years old! Considering how old the MGB was at its death, this car has some life left in it yet!
The Chinese owners have taken a sensible approach; they have updated the car and increased its specification level to a point where features such as Leather seats, Air Conditioning and a hardtop are all standard equipment. They have also garnished the car with a three year/ 60,000 mile warranty complete with three years roadside assistance. Probably just as well, owners just might need it!
Maybe the plan is to release all the old MG models as new ones! If this is the case then AUTOLOUD could be tempted by a MG Metro Turbo, in white with white wheels!
Well the eighties are back in fashion after all!
