Mayday, Mayday!!

Detroit continues to nose dive like a stricken airplane, the masks are down, every one is braced for a crash landing, some people have even kissed their asses goodbye and the really bad news is, there is not enough parachutes to go around. You just know it will end in tears!
Although the senate killed the bill, the Bush administration has to do something. The auto industry employs a lot of people and to have all of them in the unemployment line at this time would make no sense at all. Mmm, wonder how big a conscious Dubya actually has? War, recession, bankruptcies, what’s the worst that could happen, Bush could lose his job! Oops too late! Poor President Obama, he will have his hands full on day one!
AUTOLOUD hates to tell you this, but the American motor industry and regardless of whether we talk about Ford, Chrysler or GM all got to where they are today because of dumb-ass management and bad cars, it is simple as that. They were not ready for the rise in fuel prices, they should have been, every thing works in cycles and these guys just missed it. The sheer arrogance of the industry is the largest contributing factor, it’s like that line from that dreadful Kevin Costner movie (Isn’t that all of them?) Field of Dreams - “Build it and they will come” and they did, after all can a million buyers for the Ford F series be wrong!
Whatever is left alive amongst the wreckage, hopefully may one day recover to be a leaner, smarter American car industry but somehow I doubt it!
