Making Plans for Nigel - The Mini!

The time has finally come!
After trawling through eBay and carsales for months on the lookout for a car and just missing out on numerous vehicles, it has happened! Autoloud has taken the plunge and is now the owner of a 1997 Rover Mini Cooper. Finished in British Racing Green with white roof and bonnet stripes, this is the classic Mini not the pretender to the throne that BMW builds.
A peek inside reveals the Cooper branded leather trim and wood-grain dashboard, both features that Sir Alec Issoginis would choke on his Gin over – Autoloud on the other hand is quite pleased. The biggest surprise is that being originally built for the Japanese market “Nigel” has air conditioning making him perfect for Australia’s scorching summer months!
Accessory shopping for the Mini has been an education and honestly if owning one is a dream of yours, do yourself a favour and buy parts overseas. With a strong dollar you are able to buy parts for about a third of the price of Australian suppliers – the Union Jack decals for the mirrors and roof are already in the mail by the way – Autoloud can’t wait!
Nigel is currently on wharf in Osaka waiting for import approval to come through – updates will be regular. To paraphrase XTC - I am Making Plans for Nigel!
Speaking of Mini’s if you haven’t seen the original film version of "The Italian Job" with Michael Caine, take the time, it’s worth every Mini Cooper minute!
