I'm confused! Mini or Minor?

My research continues into which car Autoloud should buy. I have decided that ultimately it must not be an average car. Something with style and character (read old!) is what I want parked in the driveway of Autoloud.
I am narrowing choices down and I am following two distinct trains of thought.
One has me driving something from the stable of British Leyland. A Mini (the real one) is my first choice, but the other which is gaining support from Mrs Autoloud is the Morris Minor. The Mini can be sourced from Japan and these are normally fitted with air conditioning for that market, so this would be the more suitable car for living in Brisvegas. Apart from the fact that they are still a cool car, I drove a lot of them when I was younger, there are stories and NO, I won’t tell!
The Minor is a motoring institution no matter which body shape you choose. I do prefer the Tourer and the woodframed Traveller but considering the prices they are advertised for, it will be the two or four door sedans for me.
The other problem with the minor is performance, it may be a little leisurely in the acceleration department but after reading some British magazines, this is curable. The English have transplanted everything from the 1275 cc engine from the MG Midget (which is almost a bolt in job) to the Rover V8! Here in OZ the most popular conversion is the Datsun 120Y engine and gearbox, which means performance is still leisurely but at least it doesn’t break down every day!
The more time I spend on this the more I get confused. We have not touched on the other train of thought, which would see me considering such interesting little sporty cars as the Suzuki Cappuccino and the Honda Beat. Any other ideas?
