If they remake Ferris Beuller, this will stay in the garage!

To be released at the Paris Motorshow in September is the new Ferrari California.
Now, mechanically it has all the right equipment, seven speed gearbox with dual clutches, direct petrol injection, traction control and carbon fibre brakes. Trumpeted as the first front engined V8 Ferrari ( Gee,what took them so long!) it harnesses a whole 460 iIalian stallions under the aluminium bonnet and bodywork. It does 0-100kmh in under four seconds. But.......
I dont wish to alienate or upset the gold chain brigade or the Tifosi but this thing is not a good looking car! Its way too Japanese looking for me. Have a close look, go on! There is a lot of Supra in its make up, also a touch of Honda S2000 and possibly some Mitsubishi 3000GT .
What ever happened to the gorgeous looking Ferraris of old? Ferraris were once automotive sculptures, mostly cobbled together by Pininfarina, there were other coachbuilders but Pininfarina consistently built the best looking ones, no question.
The current Ferrari range is hit and miss in the looks department, sorry but it is! The mid engined car, the 430 is the prettiest, the Fiorano I could live with. The Scagaletti, Oh dear!, This should have been a four door, it is big enough after all!
They used an original California (well a copy anyway) in the movie Ferris Beuller's Day off, if they remake the movie, which Hollywood no doubt will, They will take one look at the current California and say " Take the Prius, Dude!"
