Land Rover Adventure Ambassadors joined the Discovery Sport to lead a weekend of adventure activities in Reykjavik, Iceland. Monty Halls, Kenton Cool and Ben Saunders demonstrated their expertise in adventure, showcasing the Discovery Sport as the most capable and versatile premium compact SUV.

Ex-Royal Marine Monty Halls leads expeditions into some of the most demanding environments on Earth. His projects have taken him on four circumnavigations of the globe over a five year period. Journalists were invited by Halls to pull on dry suits before plunging into the freezing waters of the Thingvallor National Park and explore the Silfra fissure, a crack between the North American and Eurasian continents and take a peak towards the centre of the earth.

Kenton Cool is acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest high altitude guides he has summited Everest no less than 11 times, two of these being back to back in the same week: a global first.    The Icelandic weather thwarted Kenton’s opportunity to lead a challenging frozen waterfall climb but he was able to engage journalists with tales of his adventures.

In 2013 Ben Saunders along with his team mate Tarka L’Herpiniere re-wrote history as they completed for the first time ever the ill-fated journey of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s iconic Terra Nova expedition. The pair became the first people to complete the Scott Expedition: the longest polar journey on foot in history.  Ben holds a number of record breaking Polar journeys and was the youngest person to ski solo to the North Pole. Ben gave the group a taste of his experience by navigating a snow-hike across the challenging terrain, again facing Iceland’s relentlessly unpredictable weather.

Throughout the weekend the Discovery Sport demonstrated its class-leading capability and versatility as guests and ambassador’s navigated Iceland’s demanding terrain and climate. The Discovery Sport’s flexible 5+2 seating successfully transported passengers plus their extensive equipment between each of the activities.

Mark Cameron, Global Brand Experience Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said:  “This event has been fantastic example of the spirit of adventure that lies at the heart of the Land Rover brand. These three remarkable ambassadors have given us a glimpse into their worlds and their incredible achievements.  They really do optimise what it takes to go Above and Beyond.”
