Lexus Australia Expands Takata Airbag Recall

On Thursday, January 18th, 2018

Lexus Australia will recall an additional 698 vehicles produced between January and December 2013 involving IS F, IS 250, IS 350 and IS250C models as part of the Takata airbag safety campaigns.

The recall is due to the possibility that the front passenger airbag inflators may be susceptible to moisture intrusion over time.

If this happens, in the event of an accident abnormal inflator deployment and rupture may occur, increasing the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants.

There have been no incidents or injuries reported in Australia as a result of this condition for the involved vehicles in this recall expansion.

Affected vehicle owners will be notified by mail and/or phone and requested to take their vehicle to an authorised Lexus dealer for repair as a priority.

Replacement of the front passenger airbag inflator assembly will take approximately four hours per vehicle. All works will be carried out free of charge.

For further information, owners can contact the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
