Should You Buy A New Or Used Car? Take A Look At The Benefits Of Both!

On Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

When you’re buying a car, you have two options at your disposal. You can either buy new or used. Here’s a look at the benefits of both, so you can decide which is the better option for you:

Buying Used

There can be lots of benefits to buying a used vehicle. For starters, used cars tend to be a lot cheaper than brand new cars. Obviously, it depends on the car you’re buying. If you’re looking at a used Ferrari, it will still be more expensive than a new Ford Fiesta. But, if you’re looking at the same car, a used one will be cheaper.

The second benefit is that you have far more choice if you’re looking at buying a used car. There are used auto sales with thousands of different cars on offer. You can buy a car from five or ten years ago, and it will still work just as fine. Whereas with a new car dealership, you’re restricted to whatever cars are out at the time.

You’ll also find that there are far more places for you to buy used cars than new cars. If you’re looking for a new car, then you’ll be looking at specific dealers for that car. For example, you want a new Volkswagen, you have to look for a licensed VW dealer. This means you may have to travel quite far before you find one. But, there’s always likely to be a used car dealer near you. And, there are plenty of places online that sell used vehicles too.

Buying New

You may have read all the points above and thought there’s no way you’d bother buying a new car now! Don’t be fooled, there are still many benefits to buying new. The first of which is that you get what you pay for; a brand new car. You don’t have to worry about it being damaged or having minor faults and issues, caused by the last person. It’s completely new, fresh, and ready to drive.

The second benefit is that new cars are modern. This means they’ll be kitted out with all the latest and greatest car tech. You may not be fussed about this because you just want a car for driving and not for all the gadgets and gizmos. But, with technology comes improvements in car features. Safety is improved thanks to enhanced brake tech. Steering is also improved because of the advancements in technology.

Also, when you buy a new car, you get to choose its specs. You can choose from different colour options, engine size, extra features. It gives you a chance to make the car your own and design it to your liking. Whereas with a used car, you buy whatever car is offered.

At the end of the day, there’s no clear winner between the two. You can buy used or new, it depends on who you are and your financial situation. In my opinion, if you’re looking to save money then a used car is the best avenue. But, take your time to mull over this decision and come to your own conclusion.
