Herbie the VW comes to my driveway!

Firstly I have to say that it has been a while. Unfortunately work has interrupted my blogging activities and has turned me into a walking Zombie, hence the week of leave I am now enjoying!
Well - Nigel ( My Mini ) has left the building and is now in the hands of his new keeper. I do miss him, the combination of performance and economy was fantastic and his ability to raise a smile or wave from total strangers made you feel great! This has of course left a gap in the driveway of AUTOLOUD Manor and I have filled it with, of all things, an air cooled VW Beetle!
Rather than drive a boring Repmobile I have decided to build a Herbie/Rat Rod Beetle which should keep me busy for a while. The car itself is a 1971 Superbug 1600 which will be "retrofied" to the full skinny bumpers, whitewall tyre spec.
I have already dropped the front end to give it the right stance and the Herbie stripes are on their way from the USA (God,I love eBay!) at a third of the price of sourcing locally. It should look the part when finished.
Now all I have to do is learn how to swear in German when he fails to proceed!
