Is this the new Bluesmobile?

October 20th 2009 12:53
“Its got cop tires, cop brakes and it runs real good on unleaded gas, is this the new Bluesmobile or what?”

Elwood and Joliet Jake are having a party in the slammer right now because by the time they get out, these things might be selling at Police Department auctions!

Chevy Caprice Police car

This is a serious rear wheel drive police unit from GM that is set to challenge the decrepit Crown Victoria and in case you haven’t guessed it comes from Australia!

If you have watched the American auto scene over the past year or so you will know that the Holden Commodore was sold as the Pontiac G8 which unfortunately GM decided to kill off – still don’t understand that, neither can Bob Lutz!

Chevy Caprice

Anyway GM has now decided that the car was a good thing and maybe it will look pretty with Chevy badges! The easy thing was the car, AKA Holden Statesman / Caprice is already sold in the Middle East as a Chevy anyway so it really didn’t pose a problem.

If everything goes to plan, from 2010 traffic offenders of the USA be warned, you will have to be driving some serious hardware to get away from the 6.0litre V8 flatfoot Holden, sorry Chevy!

Whether or not is fitted with State County Municipal Data System is yet to be confirmed and no matter how fast Jake and Elwood drive through a mall, there will be no new Oldsmobile this year!

Go Trabi Go!

October 13th 2009 13:44
If you were unlucky enough to live in East Berlin during the cold war years your choice of personal transport was extremely limited. Most chose the Trabi or Trabant.

Trabant

With panels constructed of "Duroplast" and a two stroke engine capable of laying its own smoke screen every time it ran, the Trabbi died a death on the fall of the Berlin Wall. Lets face it what would you rather drive a ten year old Golf or a new Trabi?

Things are about to change with this new Trabi for the 21st Century.

New Trabant

Bearing a resemblance to the original Trabi this car is designed to be as up to date as it is possible to be. With an electric drivetrain this one may even make up for the environmental damage done by the old!

No one has put their hand up to built it yet but Volkswagen is a hot favouite!
